Monika (they/them) is a PhD student at the University of Washington in the Industrial and Systems Engineering department. They are studying privacy and surveillance in education technology with a focus on design solutions. In their free time they ski, snowboard, go to Seattle Reign games, and hunt morels (as pictured).

Monika's first publication in the privacy field was presented at CHI 2024. It offers novel insights into the concerns of students using a learning management system. The paper can be found here: https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3613904.3642914.

Monika received the GRFP in 2023, an NSF program that supports promising doctoral students.
